Experienced Developer - Google Apps Deployment Engineer

Bayer's Lake Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

SheepDogInc.ca is a leading Information Technology services organization, specializing in enterprise Google IT solutions. We create cutting edge custom software, IT and web solutions for a long roster of premiere clients. SheepDog was selected as one of Google's first ten Enterprise Partners for Google Apps at it's launch in 2007 and since then have become one of the industry leaders in that space.

 

Position:

The primary role of the successful candidate will be to design and execute effective migration plans for our Google Apps clients. We are looking for an experienced mid level developer / engineers who loves Cloud Computing, and has an understanding of systems and platforms, to assist us in implementing Google Apps, Google App Engine for our clients worldwide. This key role requires expert knowledge in deployment strategies for a wide variety of enterprise class business communication networks.

 

Projects include working our clients, and our project managers with the Google Apps APIs and scripts to customize implementations for organizations of various types and sizes. Projects also include manipulation and customization using SDKs and APIs, as well as consideration for network and systems elements like LDAP and various security protocols.

 

The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, enthusiastic, intelligent, analytical, and eager to take on responsibility and learn new skills. She/he will enjoy working in a fast paced and agile organization, and creating an exciting, fun, teamwork-oriented environment. Primary Duties include the following:

  • Architect Solutions in mission critical SSO environments (typically using Active Directory)
  • Help manage projects working with other program managers and engineers
  • Work 5-8 projects at a time
  • Consult with the clients through the implementation process
  • Work with sales team members and clients to understand requirements and clarify conceptual needs for projects, both small and large
  • Accurately quote time estimates for projects both small and large
  • Assist in the development of detailed project specifications
  • Document applications and all associated procedures
  • Communicate technical and business requirements with other programmers, designers and clients
  • Test/QA projects
  • Take direction from, and work closely with senior developers and project managers
  • Embrace Agile methodology and SCRUM
  • Light travel required

  • Well-proven time management skills while remaining flexible in responding to changing company and/or client needs.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience with email / enterprise class networks
  • LDAP and Active Directory expertise
  • Experience in Agile software development and maintenance practices & methodologies
  • Awareness of code efficiencies such as the reuse of common modules and identifies opportunities for request consolidation and/or re-usability
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in helping develop mission-critical web based systems
